GREG
Can you believe all the racist stuff going on in this campaign? It makes me sick!
JAMES
Yes, it's sad that in the 21st century, people think this is an acceptable political strategy.
GREG
It just makes me sick, I tell ya. Because, I mean - I'm no racist. I mean, if I were, would I
have invited you here for dinner? Speaking of which - honey, how's dinner coming along?
TERRY
Just about finished. You guys can come sit down, if you're ready.
GREG
Fantastic. Do you need any help setting the table?
TERRY
Nope - already covered. I've even set out the good silverware.
GREG
Do you hear that, James? We set the good silverware right out on the table - didn't hide it
or anything. How about that? Huh? Would a racist do that?
JAMES
Uh, listen, Greg, I don't think you're a racist, so, you really don't need to prove it to me.
GREG
Who's trying to - prove- no, I'm not - I didn't even - who's - I'm like, "here I am having
a nice chat, with my friend James. Oh, what, he's black? I didn't even - that's even
better." No, I mean, not better, you know, just - equality.
JAMES
Just relax, man, don't even worry about it.
TERRY
Dinner is served! James - I hope you like fried chicken.
GREG
NO! (throws the chicken across the room) Oh dear, that was - total coincidence! I mean,
you may not even like chicken, how would we know - no way we could have guessed -
JAMES
Greg! Calm down. I love fried chicken.
GREG
Do you? (picks the chicken back up and puts it on the table) Well, that is news, because I
certainly hadn't assumed that you would - that is, I mean, I like fried chicken, and I'm no
racist, so that why shouldn't you be able to, without also being racist, enjoy it, also?
JAMES
What is your problem?
GREG
Nothing! I was just saying that I enjoy fried chicken, and there's nothing racist about
that!
JAMES
Seriously - stop it. Everything smells delicious, Terry.
TERRY
Why thank you! It's an old family recipe. Would you like light meat or dark meat?
GREG
NO! (throws the chicken again) Both types are equal!
JAMES
I'm sorry - I can't take this. Thank you for your hospitality. Greg, I'll see you at work.
TERRY
Oh, don't go - we've got all of this food. And, I picked up a fresh watermelon for dessert!
GREG
NO! (punts the watermelon off stage) Come back! She didn't mean it! Well, he's gone.
This always happens! Oh well - hopefully things go better tomorrow when Lopez comes
over for dinner.
TERRY
I should think so. I'm going to try a new recipe for tamales.
GREG
NO!
